Alkyl nitrites

Anybody see any usefulness in alkyl nitrite? What do you think would happen if, for instance, tubing was affixed to a bottle of it and ran under the nostrils as they do to administer oxygen? Would it work on its own, or as a sensory blocker while SN took effect?
