what you think about alcohol poisoning as a means to die? google says six people die of it every day. It doesn't seem like too bad of a way to go. what do you guys think?

It's actually more likely that you'll get stuck by lightening than die of alcohol poisoning.

why? you can always ensure you take lots of it?
My statement only referred to the math. 6 a day is less than 2,400 a year which is less than the 4,000+ who get stuck by lightening.

well the people who die of alcohol poisoning are not necessarily trying to commit suicide.

It's probably a lot like an OD. You probably can do it accidentally easier than on purpose. I don't know if Leaving Las Vegas is based in fact, but it's a book/movie about a guy who drinks himself to death. Nicholas Cage is very good in the film.

it is very much based in fact - I just checked. But the the book author blew his head off, which I think is a pretty common combination. Its a great movie about loving people for who they truly are. And very, very, sad.

How about death by an alcohol enema? Hey, somebody has a post about the possibility of a Nembutal enema for the benefit of avoiding the risk of vomiting. I'm sure I have heard of death by an alcohol enema before (though I don't know if they were trying to CTB or if blasting booze up your ass is done just for fun).

Leaving Las Vagas was a good movie. It wasn't clear how exactly Cage's character died though. I don't think it was alcohol poisoning since how can one have a BAC high enough for death but still be conscious and further be able to perform sexually? Or perhaps the author didn't tell the story exactly as how it happened in real life since a more realistic death by alcohol simply doesn't make for as compelling a scene as one where he drifts off to death during sex.

I saw a few people who were close to ODing on alcohol and it wasn't pretty. They pulled through and it wasn't without excessive vomiting, messing themselves, and a whole lot of hurt the next few days.

Unless you take an anti vomit drug and take in a whole jug of highly potent shit in a relatively quick amount of time, you're just asking for a mess and a very hurtin next few days.

Take a chance to look at some of the other options more reliable and rethink your why... hugs to you, friend.

Wouldn't recommend this, there's a very low chance of you killing yourself with alcohol on its own via poisoning. if you do die it's more likely to be from choking on your own vomit.

I think it was he died from organ failure. He also never ate anything in the film, which would contribute to organ damage. Chances of him overdosing was low considering how high his tolerance was. He was also in withdrawals whenever his BAC dropped too low. In the unlikely event he ran out, he could've died from that.

To be honest I'm not sure the film was that realistic in this respect - he had... something like 3 week to kill himself with booze? That's just a complete lottery really, some people go on like that character for years although the not eating at all would hasten it.

With an enema, odds are certainly higher in the favor of dying as you can't puke it out since there would be nothing to puke.

One of life's great mysteries. I don't think it was the alcohol alone, it fucks with your body a lot. But yeah, the having sex and then dying part didn't add up. I just loved their relationship in the movie. It was like she was so in control until he cheated on her, then she got herself in a bad situation. Man, I've seen the movie 3 times and it still makes me sad. I love the way the city was shot, they didn't shut any streets down, so most outside scenes were done in one take. Plus it was filmed in 8mm, which gave it that gritty look.

That's a fiction book written by an alcoholic and that was his suicide fantasy. In real life, he shot himself

Yep, not geared of a successful try yet. They are either die due to vomiting or wake up with a bad hangover.

In my whole carrier as an alcoholic, I never drank enough to die, just to vomit all over myself and black out for 15 hours.
I witnessed my friend chug a whole bottle of vodka while weighing 45 kilo and with no tolerance and thats how itended as well.
Pretty unreliable.
Although I did hear about that guy who died from alcohol enema
