• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

It appears that this was done by mistake and has been reversed by Google. It may take a few hours for you to stop seeing those warnings.

If you're still getting these warnings, please let a member of staff know.

Moving to a new suburb is daunting to say the least for me. Rly anxious about the changes in routine, environment, etc. If anyone has any experience with this type of situation, pls provide some advice below. Looking for some constructive things that could help me adjust and carry on "normally".

Thanks

Research things like the nearest shops or your route to places like the library/gym/high street.
Try out different options (walking/cycling route, driving, bus etc) - don't always trust google for the best route
Experiment and wander round each shop/supermarket to see what range of products they have, if one is better for discounts or product ranges you like etc
Tour round all the gyms using free trials and taster sessions to get a feel for them (and free exercise!)
Sign up to the library if you have one and/or explore what they have on offer to loan, and the staff are likely to be helpful about the local area.
Search socials for local residents groups and have a nosey through posts, events and whatever else is posted online.

I'm sure others will have other suggestions, but I relocated about 3 months ago and was very grateful for dry weather as it made it loads easier for me to be out and about just wandering and exploring by foot or bike while waiting for my job to start.

Good luck. There will more than likely be friendly welcoming people around that will be very keen to share their suburb with you!

If you're moving for work, do a kind of recce travelling in to work to figure out timing, parking, whatever. I literally moved to do a job and didn't even know on day 1 whether there were pavements on route. I thought I may end up having to walk through fields! (I didn't, fortunately.) Leave yourself plenty of time.

Enjoy being a tourist. Look up things to do in the surrounding area- try to make it fun. I weirdly may have done more touristy things in the places I moved to rather than my home towns.

If you're socially anxious, consider at least dropping notes in to your neighbours to introduce yourself. That depends more on whether it's flats or houses maybe. I found people were more friendly in houses. Also kind of depends on the neighbourhood I guess.

Put some music on and try and get settled in. Put out familiar things to try and make it seem more like home. It's bound to feel weird initially. In all 3 places I moved to, I think I went through an initial stage of thinking I'd made a horrible mistake! They all pretty much worked out though.

Good luck! I hope you settle in quickly.
