Does anybody have that one friend that is just perfect? I do...She is the prettiest girl I've ever seen influding internet and I am not kidding, she's funny, super chill, friendly, extremely talented for example she can draw really well, also she is smart..She's so cool, everything I've always wanted to be, has a good family...And she's always been a good friend to me...And I can't help but feel like trash next to her. How do I even have the audacity to exist? I'm filled with jealousy and I'm so disgusted with myself...I've always been really competetive and I have the need to be the best in everything but no matter how hard I try, I can never be as good as her, in anything....Anyone else feeling this way? It can happen with celebrities too, but having someone like this in your real life is just different...Especially when you know them close and you just know that there isn't any flaw...

Pardon me, but its a phrase just to satisfy your own ego and blind you of seeing the loser you are. Been there done that.

Well the phrase actually makes sense to me because you're always gonna find someone in a better position, with more money or looks. If you want to take the road of recovery you should ignore that and focus on improving yourself even little by little. If you compare yourself with Brad Pitt, you'll always lose.
Anyway it's a ad hominem fallacy to attack the author instead of the concept. The phrase makes sense

The beautiful people envy. Feel it pretty strong myself. They're like a different species altogether and I have no idea how they manage to be around someone like me.

And there is truth to it, so it shouldn't be dismissed. Most people tend to only show their "best bits" to the outside world. We all do it. We hide the aspects of ourselves that we don't like as much. We tend to only broadcast the bits of our lives of which we are most proud. So when we are observers of others' lives, we see their great lives or beautiful photos and we compare it to all of the horrible things we keep hidden. It's so easy to feel like trash when we do that regularly. That's why social media has played a big role in increasing social anxiety among the population.
