I don't know enough about the legality of it especially on an anonymous forum, but I believe information about methods should be freely discussed. Now what you do with that information is all up to you. This is a pro-choice site and it's your choice to do whatever or however you please with such information. There's too much censorship with topics as taboo as suicide and we should be given the freedom of simply thinking and talking about it instead of having our thoughts be controlled. Lifers just expect you to bottle it all in like a robot instead of thinking of you as a person who can think for themselves.

In the US, First Amendment protection. Except if speech is "directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action." Even still, there would be challenges regarding jurisdiction and discovery for anything on this site.

So, except for statements like "you should right now put a loaded gun to your head and pull the trigger," most of what is going on here is 1A protected.

This is in the rules:

Yes, we are not supposed to encourage. I think no body here is encouraging BUT
What some people do here might look like assisted suicide over the internet which I'm pretty sure is Illegal.

I read a few articles on people being convicted for talking and explaining/detailling suicide methods to people who were about to commit suicide.

I'm sure that things I've said on here are illegal in my country. But I'm sure that police in your country has far more important things to do than to convict helpless suicidal people.

If you or person CTB's and somehow the authorities found out about the advice giving then they might accuse you or person of assisted suicide or simply charge you for encouraging it.

That's why I'm grateful we have this forum where everyone is anonymous for the most part.
